Breast Reconstruction

Back | Photo Gallery Home

Case Number: 14

BEFORE   AFTER

This patient is a 42-year-old female who was diagnosed with bilateral breast carcinoma. The above photos show her result after she underwent a bilateral mastectomy and immediate one-stage breast reconstruction using silicone breast implants and alloderm (Implant and Alloderm Reconstruction). Before surgery we had an in-depth discussion on the various approaches for breast reconstruction including both traditional and more contemporary aesthetic options. The sequence of an expander placement followed by an exchange procedure was reviewed in detail, as was the single stage AlloDerm reconstruction using a silicone gel implant and an inframammary fold application of AlloDerm. In addition, the options for breast reconstruction using autologous tissue as well as the TRAM flap, latissimus dorsi, and microsurgical options were discussed extensively. The breast reconstruction surgery was performed by Dr. R. Michael Koch under General anesthesia at Community Hospital in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
