W. Scott McDonald, MD

Dr. McDonald is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery there, including a year of research at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. He then completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University, after which he returned to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for a year of specialty training in Craniofacial Surgery. Dr. McDonald began his career at Tulane University School of Medicine and rose to Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

The results of Dr. McDonald's research in plastic surgery have been published in prestigious journals including The Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The Annals of Plastic Surgery, and The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery. He has given scientific lectures on Wound Healing, Craniofacial Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery, and Breast Reconstruction at major Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery meetings including those hosted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM).

Dr. McDonald believes in sharing his talent and skill with those in desperate medical need. He has traveled to Colombia, South America and led mission teams to Gaza, Palestine with Operation Smile. In association with Project Medishare Dr. McDonald has guided several groups of the University of Miami School of Medicine students to the Central Plateau of Haiti to perform reconstructive surgery on both the children and adults. Most recently he has traveled to Cuba with an elite medical team in a plastic surgery teaching exchange.

Dr. McDonald's clinical interests include aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and breasts.

Dr. McDonald is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
