Rhinoplasty Post Op QA

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Before My Surgeon Removes The Splint From My Nose?

The external splint is typically removed 10-14 days after rhinoplasty.

How Long Before My Swelling Is Gone?

Rhinoplasty surgery is one that requires patience. Swelling will dramatically improve within the first month, but it can truly take up to 6-9 months for the final result to be visible.

The Tip Of My Nose Seems High, Is This Normal?

Yes. The tip is purposely made higher as your surgeon anticipates that it will drop in the first month.

May I Use Afrin Or Other Nasal Sprays If I Feel Congested?

No! These nasal sprays CANNOT be used until cleared by your surgeon. Saline nasal sprays are usually okay to use by 2 weeks after surgery, but Afrin should typically not be used until 4 weeks after surgery. Always ask your surgeon first before using these products.

How Long Does It Take For Bruising To Resolve?

Bruising takes about 2-3 full weeks to completely resolve. After about 6-7 days, the bruising will turn from a purplish color to a more green/yellow; this will then fade by 2-3 weeks.
